A late-night incident at a nasi kandar shop in Georgetown, Penang left a restaurant supervisor hurt, and a lot of chicken spilled after a “misunderstanding” between customers.
The incident occurred when two groups of men, at separate tables began brawling with each other. One group of four “yelled” for the waiter to come to their table (stay classy, Georgetown). Two men at a separate table thought the yelling was directed at them.
The only possible way to respond to such an affront, barring the use of words like “please, don’t yell,” “sir, your tone is inappropriate” or even a mildly hostile, “you talkin’ to me?,” is naturally, to throw chicken. Ayam not joking.
Poultry flew, and the two men stood up, charging at the table. A bust-up of rice, chicken, gravy and fists ensued, stopped only when restaurant workers pulled the men apart. Supervisor Chain Leng Park sustained injuries to his hand. Police were called, and three of the men were detained.
Police are investigating the CCTV and considering pressing further charges.
What in all goodness is wrong with humanity when people have resorted to throwing perfectly good chicken? Firstly, yelling at anyone is all sorts of rude. Secondly, nasi kandar is famously pricey, and what kind of human wastes perfectly good food like that? Be nice, don’t throw rice.
