For the past 15 years, a teenager named Shahril from Sungai Petani has been living with the foetus of his twin inside him.
According to a report by Sinar Harian, when he was younger, Shahril noticed that his abdomen was getting more and more bloated by the day. It was during a medical examination that the doctors found the foetus.
However, he opted not to have the surgery to remove it as there was no pain and it did not pose any danger.
According to a source, Shahril continued being his usual self, even playing football with his friends, as the condition never really affected his daily life.
The source added that Shahril would often joke about his huge appetite as he need to “feed the baby” inside of him.
But last month, he started getting sharp pains in his abdomen and started vomiting any food he consumed. Worried about his safety, his parents brought him to the hospital to have the foetus removed.
When the foetus was removed, doctors confirmed that his ‘twin’ was a parasite and had hair, hands, arms and even genitalia.
According to the report, Shahril is the first reported case of “fetus in fetu” in Malaysia.
