A teenager was arrested by the police after he tried to enter an army camp without valid papers on Wednesday.
According to The Star Online, the 17-year-old teenager — in full army uniform — was stopped by the guards at the army camp in Jalan Tanjung Labuh at around 10.55am after he failed to produce valid identification papers.
He was reportedly detained on the spot and handed over to the police.
“Further investigations revealed that the teen, who works as a waiter, lost his father three days ago while his mother died when he was seven.
“The boy, who lives on his own, is believed to have a mental disorder,” Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Wahib Musa was quoted as saying.
According to ACP Abdul Wahib, the boy revealed that he wanted to join the army and he bought the military uniform for RM170 about three years ago.
The boy has been remanded until August 14, and the case is being investigated under Section 171 of the Penal Code for impersonating a civil servant.
