An teenager who was working at a hardware shop in Alor Setar suffered injuries to his right leg when a forklift pinned him against the wall in a freak mishap.
According to The New Straits Times, the 18-year-old was working at the shop when the incident happened around 2.35pm.
In a statement as reported by the daily, the Fire and Rescue Department said the Alor Star fire station received a distress call at 2.36pm and a team of firemen, led by senior officer II Jasbir Singh Tara Singh, was dispatched to the scene.
When the team reached the location at 4.45pm, they found the victim trapped between a concrete wall and a forklift.
The firemen reportedly used a hydraulic tool to free the teenager.
“The victim was trapped between the forklift and the wall. If the forklift was moved manually, it could have endangered the teenager,” Jasbir was quoted as saying, adding that the victim received treatment at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital shortly after he was freed.
