Teacher in Seremban under investigation for assaulting student

Another teacher is now on the police radar: this time it’s a primary school teacher in Seremban, who allegedly assaulted a 10-year old student, who is now in the hospital.

Seremban deputy police chief Supt Baharuddin Mustapha said the PDRM would question several people, including the teacher in question, and forward the findings to the deputy public prosecutor.

“We have received the report lodged by the parents of P. Saatish and appropriate action is being taken,” said Baharuddin yesterday.

The Malay Mail Online reports that SK Rahang student Saatish has been hospitalised at the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital for severe headaches and dizziness from the assault.

On the morning of May 15, Saatish claimed, the teacher had slapped him across the face eight times with a plastic file, “for no apparent reason”.

The teacher then told him to stop crying, and pressed his wristwatch against Saatish’s forehead, causing it to swell.

His parents, B Piraburatnam and N Umahrani, lodged a police report on the incident the next day.

Saatish says this was not an isolated incident – the teacher had allegedly assaulted several of his friends also.

This is the second report in two days of a teacher being investigated for harming a student under his care – yesterday we ran a piece on a secondary school teacher in PJ under police probe for allegedly caning his 14-year old student on May 12.
