Teacher foils kidnap attempt at Johor primary school

A man’s attempt to fool the teachers and abduct a student last week was foiled by a quick thinking teacher.

According to a report by China Press, as translated by The Star Online, the man allegedly attempted to kidnap a SJK (C) Chong Hwa 1 primary school student in Kluang, Johor by impersonating as a tuition center driver.

A teacher at the school, Chen Jun Xing, told the Chinese daily that the suspect was spotted at the school compound after school hours last week.

The suspect reportedly told Chen that he was asked to pick up a boy who attended extra co-curriculum at the school.

When Chen informed the suspect that the only student attending tuition class at the centre was a girl, the suspect said it was the girl.

As Chen was trying to get in touch with the girl’s parents to check on the transport arrangement, the suspect reportedly fled the scene.

The Chinese daily reported that upon further investigations, school authorities found that no such arrangements were made by the girl’s parents and the suspect did not work for the center.
