A 32-year-old teacher attending a football workshop died after he was struck by lightning at a school in Shah Alam yesterday.

Mohd Farhan Masudi was at the secondary school in Jalan Wau 11/1, Section 11 to attend a state-level football coaching workshop when the incident happened at 4.20pm, The Star Online reports.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Shafien Mamat told the portal that Mohd Farhan had been leaning against a metal door in the school hall when the bolt hit.

“He collapsed and suffered severe head and chest injuries. Two of his friends who tried to help him were also affected by the electrical current and fainted,” he was quoted as saying adding that most teachers were away at the time of the incident.

Mohd Farhan, a teacher at a secondary school in Tanjong Karang, died on the way to the hospital, the portal said, while his two friends were warded at the Shah Alam Hospital where their condition has reportedly stabilised.
