Syabas says KL’s water supply is running low. Again.

It seems to us that every time Syarkikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) puts out a public statement, people skip showers for at least a week. The water supply consortium have announced that water supply in the Klang Valley is once again at critical levels, following the recent dry spell hitting the country, and due to incresed deman in recent weeks.

A Syabas spokesperson told the media, “Our reserve margin is critical as it is below one per cent. The comfortable level is between  10 and 20 per cent.”

Syabas currently manages dams in Sungai Selangor Dalam, Sungai Tinggi, Semenyih, Sungai Langat, Klang Gates, Subang and Sungai Batu Dalam.

The lack of rainfall has also contributed to continued high levels of ammonia at the Bukit Tampoi and Cheras Batu 11 water treatment plants managed by the Selangor Water Management Authority.

Consumers have been urged to conserve water and to cut down on consumption.
