Two suspected snatch thieves learnt a very painful lesson when they failed to get away after allegedly snatching a woman’s necklace.
According to a report by The New Straits Times, the incident happened at around 5.30pm when the two suspects approached a 49-year-old woman and her 51-year-old husband in front of a supermarket at Jalan Yamtuan in Seremban on their motorcycle.
One of the suspects then alighted from the motorcycle and suddenly snatched the woman’s necklace.
The suspect then reportedly hopped onto the bike and attempted to flee, but luck wasn’t on their side that day.
Seremban district police chief Assistant Commissioner Thiew Hock Poh told the daily that as they were trying to speed away, they crashed their motorcycle into a parked car.
“Both men were immediately apprehended by members of the public,” ACP Thiew was quoted as saying.
A video showing the members of the public serving the suspects some sweet, sweet justice managed to find its way online and has since gone viral on Facebook:
ACP Thiew told the daily that the police have arrested the suspects, aged 26 and 27, and they are being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code for robbery.
