Johor’s Chief Minister, Onn Hafiz Ghazi, made another visit to the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex in Johor Bahru recently, where he expressed his disappointment at the traffic situation.

This comes after he made a surprise inspection at the same facility before the Hari Raya festive season and urged staff to be more prepared for heavy traffic.

A TikTok user uploaded a video on May 2, showing Hafiz questioning immigration officials about the incessant honking of motorcyclists within the complex.

“Why are they honking? […] Something is happening here,” the chief minister said in the video.

“This is the first time I’m seeing this kind of traffic bottleneck. Something is happening down there,” Onn Hafiz reiterated.

“Why is there a bottleneck?” He continued to ask.

The video captured a long queue of motorcyclists moving slowly due to only one motorcycle lane being open, caused by a skylift blocking the road.

The Chief Minister expressed his displeasure at the situation, reprimanded the immigration officials, and instructed them to remove the skylift.

After the skylift was removed, the video shows smoother traffic flow, with Onn Hafiz continuing to monitor the situation from above.

Hafiz’s actions at the CIQ Complex are significant as state elections are approaching, and his efforts to improve traffic flow are likely to garner positive attention from the public.

Additionally, his presence on social media platforms such as TikTok serves as a PR page for his position as Chief Minister, as it allows him to showcase his involvement in resolving issues that affect the people of Johor.
