Even though we don’t really get summer here (as if we really needed more heat to vaporise our water supply), Hollywood certainly has a way of reminding us what time it is: blockbuster movie hero season is fast approaching, and the theatrical trailers are hitting our synapses hard and fast. The new Guardians of the Galaxy trailer just dropped through Jimmy Kimmel Live this afternoon KL time, and we have to say director James Gunn (Super) has definitely stamped his sense of off-kilter humour onto the movie:

Guardians of the Galaxy stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Benicio del Toro, and the voices of Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon (!) and Vin Diesel as Groot, the violent sentient tree (!!). It’s coming out in August.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 isn’t to be outdone, with this new featurette showcasing a little bit of behind-the-scenes visual trickery and a lot more Paul Giamatti, who’s been inexplicably cast as the ironclad (for this movie’s non-canonical take) Rhino. Check it out here:

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is directed by Marc Webb (yes, appropriate) and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Cole Haan, Sally Field, and Paul Giamatti. It’ll hit screens worldwide May 2.
Oh, you want more, don’t you? Sure thing. Captain America: The Winter Soldier will continue the Man out of Time’s adventures in a SHIELD-protected, post-Chitauri invasion world, but the Winter Soldier – a blast from both Cap’s and America’s Cold War past – stands in the way of the red, white and blue. Also, Robert Redford, y’all. Ed Brubaker, who wrote the Winter Soldier storyline in the comic books, calls this the best movie Marvel Studio’s made yet. See if the trailer makes you agree with him:

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, and stars Chris Evans, Samuel L Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, and the aforementioned OMG Robert Redford. It premieres April 4 worldwide.
BONUS BOSS FIGHT: Because any movie that will have Peter Dinklage and killer robots who look like early 200s iMacs are cool with us, X-Men: Days of Future Past wants you to rethink history in this clip – specifically, the assassination of President John F Kennedy at the hands of … the mutant terrorist, Magneto? Sure, why not:

X-Men: Days of Future Past is directed by Bryan Singer, making his return to the X-Men franchise since 2003’s X2. It stars Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, Ian McKellen, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Halle Berry, and Peter Dinklage. The movie hits theatres May 23.
Okay, show of hands: how many of you are going to need 5 kilos of popcorn pumped out their stomach by the time September rolls around?
