We’ve featured Ridduan “Tukang Tangkap Gambar Gembira Anda / TTFGA” Ismail before, when he put up (and later exhibited) the beautiful documentation of his hometown in Kelantan during the East Coast floods late last year.
This time around, the infamous streetstyle photographer beloved by hipsters all over KL and Malaysia is in the headlines for a much less flattering reason.
Ardent social activist and daughter of former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Marina Mahathir, came upon a photo of fashion stylist and former Media Prima fashion advisor Zaihani M Zain on Ridduan’s Instagram account.
Like most IG users, Marina posted a comment, asking who Zaihani was, and (probably more importantly for Marina) requesting for details on the “wonerful necklace” Zaihani was wearing.
It … did not go well from there on out.
Ridduan shot Marina down, probably for not knowing someone as relevant to his scene as Zaihani M Zain, and was pretty much an ass to the renowned public figure, who was on Instagram using the not-very-identifiable handle of “matanetra”.

Ridduan committed to the multiple faux pas of being rude to an Instagram commenter when he pretty much had no reason to be; deleting said comments and replies when the situation exploded, and then apologising to Marina in part by using the excuse that he didn’t know who she was.
Sorry, dude. You take awesome photos, but that was not cool at all.
In the end, Marina handed down a gentle (but stern) talking-to to the popular shooter, and delivered the most potent sting one can receive on Instagram: she vowed to unfollow him.
Just goes to show, folks: it pays to be polite to everyone you meet online.
