Stage One of water rationing now discontinued

The first phase of the water rationing exercise in the Klang Valley and Selangor has ended, as the Cheras Batu 11 and Bukit Tampoi water treatment plants are back in operation.

Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) confirmed this in a statement yesterday.

However, Syabas will continue monitoring the ammonia content in the water from Sungai Langat and will impose water rationing measures again if it is found to be at a dangerous level.

“At present the water treatment plants will be operating according to the quality of the raw water sources to enable the water supply to be channeled to areas being rationed in Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat and Sepang,” it said.

Areas which were subject to Phase One of the water rationing exercise will now receive continuous water supply for the time being, while the water treatment plants are in operation.

Meanwhile, Phase Three of water rationing measures remains in effect, despite the increased rainfall in several areas over the past few days.

Syabas said the water rationing would continue until amendments or directives were received from the Selangor state government and the National Water Services Commission (SPAN).
