Speed camera along the North-South Expressway knocked over, and parts taken

A speed camera, stationed along the northbound lane at kilometer 151.4 of the North-South Expressway, has been vandalized, and some of its parts taken.

I guess that’s one way of getting rid of that incriminating photo going 200km an hour, on the way to Ipoh.

A camera maintenance worker discovered the broken camera at 9:35am this morning.

The pole with the camera can be seen from the road, collapsed. A closer look will show you that the camera was then opened, and parts taken.

Police have not detailed why one might go to the trouble of knocking a pole down, just for some camera parts, but we here at Coconuts KL know that when a story sounds this random, wild, yet also incredibly involved, there’s always the common denominator — METH!

Police are still looking for the vandals.
