Special Branch officers arrested for being hooked on syabu

Two police officers assigned to the Special Branch – an inspector and a constable – were placed under arrest after testing positive for syabu, or methamphetamines.

Today’s print edition of the Malay Mail reports that the two officers were detained at 11.45am yesterday, in Bukit Aman police headquarters.

According to Bukit Aman Special Branch director Mohamad Fuzi Harun, the arrests were made after a routine disciplinary check conducted on the Special Branch division.

However, one of the officers arrested claimed he was innocent of any wrongdoing.

The 30-year old inspector, who had been with the Special Branch for the past three years, said that his drink was spiked with meth during a visit he had made to an entertainment outlet last week.

Fuzi said the arrests were part of the PDRM’s efforts to weed (ha! WEED) out rogue officers from the force.

“I will not tolerate those who tarnish the image of the police force,” he said.

“We will continue to monitor and take action against irresponsible officers.”
