Soon, you’ll be able to print your own baggage tags at the airport

Hate waiting in line every time you need to drop off your luggage at the airport?

Well, then; Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has some good news for you.

Very soon, you’ll be able to (wait in line and) print your baggage tags before you drop them off at the drop-off counter.

In a statement cited by The New Straits Times, MAS said that the self-print system would ensure that the check-in process from kiosks to baggage drop counters would be significantly shorter.

“This is the first phase before MAS moves to introduce self-baggage drop in the fourth quarter of 2016.

“Together with ground service handler AeroDarat Sdn Bhd, we will continue to introduce new systems to modernise traveling and provide ease to passengers,” the airline said in the statement.

Starting August 18, all passengers on Economy Class tickets for domestic and international flights (except for flights to Dhaka and Kathmandu) will need to print the baggage tags at 50 kiosks located around the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and self-tag their bags before dropping them off at the counter.

The same rule also applies to passengers who check-in via web and mobile.

“There will be instructions on the tags and standees around to educate passengers on the process. A maximum of two printed baggage tags per passenger is allowed at the kiosk,” MAS added in the statement.
