A soldier reportedly spent a night in police custody after he allegedly joked about having a bomb in his bag at the Kota Kinabalu airport on Friday, according to a news report by The Star Online.
In the 10.25pm incident, the man reportedly told a Malaysia Airlines staff, who was checking his luggage, that he has a bomb in his bag.
The 32-year-old man was immediately placed under custody after the staff alerted the airport police.
Kota Kinabalu City deputy police chief Supt Azhar Hamin told the news portal that the police have recorded the soldier’s statement and was released on police bail on Saturday.
Supt Azhar added that the soldier was reportedly on his way to Kuala Lumpur to attend a course.
