A woman was slashed on her wrist by a snatch thief during a robbery in front of her house on Sunday.
Bernama reports that the victim, a housewife in her 40s, was about to send her two sons and daughter to school when a man wearing a motorcycle helmet approached her during the 7am incident.
One of her children, Kamarul Ashraf Kamarul Azman, 11, said he — along with his 13-year-old brother and 15-year-old sister — were in the car when they saw their mother fighting off the suspected robber, who was attempting to snatch her handbag.
“Suddenly, I heard my mother shouting for help and the man slashed her wrist using a parang before fleeing with her handbag,” he was quoted by the news agency as saying.
He told Bernama that he saw blood gushing out from his mother’s hand, and he ran out to help his mother, who was reportedly crying profusely.
The woman was reportedly sent to Hospital Kulim for treatment before lodging a police report.
Kulim police chief Supt Abdullah Arshad confirmed receiving a report on the incident and the police are investigating the case.
