A snatch thief is dead after being allegedly knocked down by the car of a victim whose bag he had just stolen near Seri Kembangan, Selangor.
New Straits Times reports that a 25-year-old Yemeni student was eating at a mamak stall when a motorbike came towards him and grabbed his bag.
The man quickly got into his car and gave chase, catching up with the thief after about 3km at a junction near the Garden Condominium @ One South. He knocked him over with his car, resulting in serious head trauma. The thief never recovered. His body is currently at Serdang Hospital for an autopsy. Checks revealed that the man had a history of criminal intimidation, assault charges and a drugs record.
Police were called to the scene, and found the stolen bag on the dead man’s body. The student has been detained upon further investigation into the matter. Police have classified it a “culpable homicide,” which carries a 10-year sentence and fine should he be found guilty.
