Skippy peanut butter sold in Malaysia not affected by US recall, says Health Ministry

Don’t worry about that peanut butter you just bought— it’s safe to eat.

The Health Ministry gave its assurance that the batch of Skippy peanut butter, that was reportedly recalled in seven American states for containing metal shavings in its jars, was never brought into the country.

The Star Online quotes director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah as saying that the government has noted the U.S. Food and Drug Administation (USFDA) report on the voluntary recall of the product by Hormel Foods LLC of the SKIPPY Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter.

“DKSH, the company that imports and distributes Skippy Peanut Butter in Malaysia, also confirms that the product involved that was called back in the United States was only distributed to seven states in the United States as mentioned above and the product in question was not distributed to other countries, including Malaysia,” he said in a statement.
