Six Indonesians held for encroaching Penang waters

Six Indonesian nationals on a boat found to have encroached Penang waters have been detained.

According to theSundaily, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) caught the boat on Monday.

MMEA Penang maritime district 2 director First Adm Kamaruszaman Abu Hassan was quoted as saying that officers had discovered the boat — which did not have a registration number — around 5pm off Pulau Kendi.

Those arrested were reportedly aged between 22 and 26 years.

“We seized 50kg of fish and fishing equipment while the boat was sent to Batu Maung jetty for further investigation,” he said in a statement as reported by the daily.
