Six additional trains will run during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive period, Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) announced.
Bernama reported that the additional Komuter trains will be in service from July 1 to 10 for the Butterworth-Padang Besar-Butterworth route.
Wait time is expected to be reduced from two hours to one, said KTM Komuter Service general manager Azsnidah Shah Shahari.
“On normal days, we provide 14 train services, involving the three routes, namely Butterworth-Padang Besar-Butterworth, Butterworth-Gurun-Butterworth, and Butterworth-Kamunting-Butterworth, but for Aidilfitri this year, we will provide six additional trains for the Butterworth-Padang Besar-Butterworth route,” Azsnidah was quoted as saying.
KTM said the number of passengers is expected to double from the daily average of 3,000 during this period.
“It is hoped that with the 20 trains to be make available from July 1 to 10, the increased number of passengers will be well accommodated,” she was quoted as saying.
