A 33-year-old man is set to be charged today in connection with the assault on local actor Kamal Adli who suffered multiple injuries after being bashed repeatedly on the head with a baton on Sunday night while attending an event in Singapore.

He was arrested for suspected involvement in voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon. A police spokesman said they were alerted to a fight at 9:19pm on Sunday. A baton was seized as a case exhibit, he added.

The incident took place when the Abang Long Fadil star and his wife, actress Uqasha Senrose, were making an appearance on the last day of Hari Raya Mega Sale 2023, a three-day fair at Singapore Expo Hall 5A.

The 36-year-old was repeatedly struck on the head, face, chest, and back by the attacker, who Uqasha claimed to be a Singaporean national.

“My husband Kamal Adli was put to sleep for a major operation because of a very deep tear in his head,” she wrote on Instagram.

“When we were taking pictures with a fan, a man suddenly called Kamal’s name before hitting him repeatedly on the head, face, and body with a stick and a sharp weapon until he was seriously injured.

“The incident happened in front of my eyes. We don’t even know the man,” said Uqasha.

“The scariest thing is that he also shouted and left a warning to our family to be on the lookout and told us that there was an individual who sent him to attack us,” he said.

In an Instagram video, Uqasha was seen sobbing as she addressed what had occurred. She also uploaded a brief scene of her husband being attended to by medical professionals at a private hospital in Singapore.
