Police have detained three Singaporean men for allegedly growing and selling cannabis at a bungalow in Semenyih.

Kajang district police chief Mohd Zaid Hassan said the 58-year-old man and his two sons, aged 25 and 31, were nabbed at about 10pm last Friday. They were believed to have entered the country to carry out a perfume business.

Police told reporters at the Kajang police headquarters yesterday that they seized eight cannabis trees, 23 glass bottles containing dried leaves suspected to be cannabis weighing 398 grams, various tree planting tools, and a Ford Ranger. Mohd Zaid said the drugs seized were worth at least RM19,000 (US$4,600).

He added that the syndicate, believed to be active for the past four months, was operating out of a rented house. They allegedly supplied drugs to the local market and a neighboring country.

The initial investigation found that the family had bought seeds from a website based in the U.S. and sold the drugs online.

All of them were remanded until tomorrow. One of them tested positive for marijuana.
