Sign of the times: water supply trucks now have police escorts

We spotted this while driving through the Kampung Pandan district yesterday, and with reports coming out of Balakong recently, we’re not really surprised: water supply trucks from Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Berhad (Syabas) now come with armed police escorts while they make their rounds serving residents who are undergoing the company’s 2-days-on, 2-days-off water rationing exercise. We’re not certain if all water supply trucks are being similarly guarded by members of KL’s finest, or if this was a one-off, but it sure makes us a little sad to see even one instance of guns being needed to guard a water tank in KL.
