Shah Alam UiTM student dies after being hit by lecturer’s car

A student attending Shah Alam’s Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) died after she was hit by a car driven by a lecturer on the campus grounds yesterday.

The victim, 20-year old Sports Science and Recreation student Fatin Farradia Yusof, and her friends had been taking a stroll and taking photographs around the Communications and Multimedia Faculty before the incident occured at 5.20pm.

The impact threw Fatin down a slop to a nearby bus stop, Bernama reports.

When contacted, UiTM Communications and Multimedia Studies Faculty dean Prof Dr Azizul Halim Yahya said the victim lost consciousness after the incident and was rushed to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang.

The victim was pronounced dead at around 7.30pm, from internal bleeding.

The 58-year old lecturer driving the car in the incident has been warded at a private hospital for observation.

“She (the lecturer) complained of a headache before the incident, which had caused her to lose control of the car,” said Azizul.

Shah Alam district police chief ACP Azisman Alias confirmed receiving a report on the incident.
