Shah Alam restaurant owner first to be charged with GST offence

It’s been a month since the Goods and Services Tax (GST) made its appearance and one business owner has already been dragged to court for an offence.

Bernama reports that the owner of Restoran Hameeds Corner in Sectio 16, Shah Alam — Raja Bunesh Bagam Kamarudeen, 38, — pleaded not guilty to issuing some 2,000 tax invoices which did not contain the details stipulated under Section 22 of the GST Regulations 2014.

If found guilty, Raja Bunesh could be fined no more than RM30,000 or jailed for up to two years or both.
