Deciding to help the needy through the power of yum, a residents’ group in Shah Alam has cooked up a massive batch of sambal tempe and sambal hitam to be distributed to victims of the recent floods on the peninsular east coast.
The Shah Alam Residents (SAR) rounded up 40 culinary volunteers from its ranks yesterday to prepare 700 care packages of the local dishes, Harian Metro reports.
SAR representative Hisham Misripin said the cost of the dishes prepares came up to about RM1,000, an amount that was contributed by organisation members and other concerned citizens, and that volunteers toiled over a hot stove from 9am til about 4pm.
Every little bit counts!
