Shah Alam MP released on police bail after #KitaLawan arrest

Shah Alam member of Parliament Khalid Samad who was arrested on Sunday, has been released on police bail.

Bernama quoted city CID chief SAC Zainuddin Ahmad as saying that Khalid was released at 8.30pm.

Khalid, who is also PAS Central Committee member, had been detained at his house at 2.30am following the second #KitaLawan rally that took place in the city on Saturday.

He was then taken to the Dang Wangi district police headquarters for further investigation into the rally that started at Masjid Jamek and proceeded to the Sogo Shopping Complex before ending at the Petronas Twin Towers.

Showing off a ‘wedding party’ to ‘celebrate’ the nuptials of Prime Minister Najib Razak’s daughter, the gathering saw a lower turnout than previous rallies, the Malay Mail Online reports.

Citing just 300 people at the gathering that called for the release of jailed Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the portal raised the possibility that this could be due to the crackdown on opposition leaders since the protests began.

Also arrested yesterday was PKR organising chief secretary Fariz Musa.
