Shah Alam Hospital to start operations mid-Sept, more new hospitals planned

The long-awaited Shah Alam Hospital is expected to begin operations for outpatient treatment in mid-September.

The RM560 million hospital facility expects be given the local council’s green light by June, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam announced.

“The department involved in building the hospital complex will apply to the Shah Alam City Council for the Certificate of Compliance and Completion,” he said, as reported by The Rakyat Post’s G. Surach.

In-patient and specialist treatments will begin next year in the hospital that took nearly eight years to complete.

Subramaniam also announced that another healthcare facility — Tanjong Karang Hospital —will be ready in three years.

“The tender for the Tanjong Karang Hospital has already been issued by the Works Department (JKR) and construction will begin soon,” TRP quoted him as saying. He added that several new hospitals, including one in Kapar, have been proposed under the 11th Malaysia Plan.
