A 6-year-old girl has accused her baby sitter’s 7-year-old son of rape in a case that has shocked the country, as well as Melaka police, who struggled to find the right manner to ask questions when lodging the report.
The accusation by the young girl’s mother was filed 20 July, and saw both the young girl, and boy, come in for questioning. Dolls were used by officers while investigating the claims.
The parents of both children were summoned to Melaka police HQ, and the alleged crime is being investigated under the Sexual Offences Against Children Bill 2017.
Melaka ACP Kamaluddin told The Star that police have almost completed their investigation into the charges.
The girl’s mother, a single parent, had just returned from picking up the young girl after work when she noticed that her daughter was not behaving normally, and complained of pain. After checking her, she found that her private area was red, and marked.
The girl, who is still in kindergarten, then told her mother that the pipit (bird) of abang (older brother ie. the son), had caused her pain. She also said that the boy has inserted his fingers into her vagina.
Hospital tests later showed that the girl had a fresh hymen tear.
Dr M. Jegamurugan has gone on record to say, despite the young age, it was possible for young boys to have an erection, although ejaculation only happens at puberty.
While these cases are rare among the very young, they are not unheard of. In a Manchester, a UK study of 1000 under-aged rapists, two were 7 and 8 years old.
