Senior citizen gets electrocuted during thunderstorm, survives

A man in Kuala Nerang, Kedah miraculously survived electrocution during a storm at his village yesterday.

Md Rejab Jusoh, 66, was at home alone and had gone to a room upstairs to get some clothes when the storm came in.

“After hearing the sound, I prayed the Azan (call to prayer), but before I could finish it, the storm blew off the house roof, and one of the wires got cut and was exposed to stagnant water on the floor,” Bernama quoted him as saying.

“I was then electrocuted and suffered shortness of breath. I tried to crawl up on the bed. For 30 minutes I lied down and tried to calm myself,” he said.

All this took place when he was home alone, Md Rejab said, adding that his wife and child had been away when the storm hit at 6.30pm.

The storm damaged an estimated 20 houses across nine villages in the state, Bernama said.
