Security Van Robbed of RM3.3mil, Shotguns

A security van was robbed at a petrol station in Ijok, Selangor on Tuesday, giving up RM3.36 million in cash and four shotguns belonging to the security personnel.

The van had made a routine stop at the petrol station at 10am to transfer money to an automated teller machine.

A total of four suspects committed the robbery, including a man driving a white van and another man on a motorcyle. As the security  van pulled up at the station, the white van and the motorcycle intercepted it. The suspects held up the security personnel, seized their shotguns, and drove off with the security van with the guards still inside.

The security  van and its crew were brought to an oil palm plantation about 1.5km away from the scene of the crime. There, the robbers transferred nine bags containing the seized cash from the security van into their own white van, and set the security van on fire.

District police chief Superintendent Mohd Taib Ahmad said the guards were forced to lie face down on the ground as the robbers set their van on fire. Two of the guards suffered burns from lying too close to the burning van. THey have received treatment at the Sungai Buloh Hospital.

Police are reviewing the close-circuit camera footage from the petrol station for clues.
