A school security guard in Bukit Mertajam turned into a hero when he spotted and captured a deadly black cobra before the students came to school.
The Star reports that the guard saw the 0.6 meter snake in the compound of SJK (T) Ladang Alma at about 6am on Tuesday. According to the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) chairman Sugumaran Gurusamy, the brave man managed to catch the snake and release it into the jungle nearby without harming it.
“The snake could have come from the rubber estate located nearby. We believe it could have come out due to the heat,” Sugumaran told The Star.
Sugumaran added that the association has advised the school board to scatter sulphur around the school compound to prevent a similar incident. He also said that the PTA is planning to conduct a gotong-royong to clean up the school’s surroundings.
