In an era where a single click can share a photograph with the world, an alarming incident of assault has ignited discussions about consent and the responsible use of social media.

A video recently went viral on Twitter, capturing a shocking episode in a school where one student physically confronted her classmate for sharing a photograph without her consent.

The one-minute video, originally shared on Twitter by user Ian Miles Cheong, showcases a disturbing confrontation between two students in the Malaysian town of Kajang in Selangor, shedding light on the importance of consent in the digital age. The assailant can be seen scrolling on her phone before angrily confronting her classmate who had shared a photograph of her without permission.

In the video, the aggressor can be heard shouting, “Tell me, where did you get it (the picture) from?” before repeatedly slapping her fellow student in the face. The victim can be seen attempting to shield herself with her hands, while another classmate’s attempts to intervene are met with a stern warning from the assailant to stay out of it.

Meanwhile, internet users flooded the comment section and some agreed with the assailant’s actions while others didn’t.

The video quickly caught the attention of the public, prompting both parties involved to file police reports. Kajang district police chief ACP Mohd Zaid Hassan confirmed that the aggressor had slapped her classmate a total of five times during the altercation.

Law enforcement is now actively investigating the incident, with potential charges looming over the assailant. The case is being examined under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which deals with causing voluntary hurt, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1998, which pertains to posting offensive content on the internet.
