One minute he was having fun with his friends, the other he died in a freak mishap.
A schoolboy died after a hockey goalpost collapsed and fell on his head during a football game, according to a report by The New Straits Times.
14-year-old Nik Mohd Lutfi Nik Kamarudin reportedly died on the field after he slipped and fell on the pitch at SMK Tengku Indera Petra 2 in Gua Musang while trying to score a goal.
The victim’s friend, Wan Mustakim Wan Musa, told the daily that they were playing a game of football with their friends when the incident happened on Tuesday morning.
“Lufti was about to score when suddenly he slipped and fell. The goalpost then collapsed and struck his head.
“My friends and teachers rushed to him to check on his condition but he was already dead,” Wan Mustakim was quoted as saying.
Mohd Lutfi’s body was reportedly sent to the Gua Musang Hospital for a post mortem.
