All the boy wanted to do was to retrieve his pocket money which had fallen into a drain, but he became stuck instead.
An eight-year-old school boy from Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu Belah, Klang had to be rescued when he got stuck in a school drain for about 20 minutes on Tuesday, Bernama reports.
According to the news agency, the boy had earlier tried to reach for his pocket money which had fallen inside the drain by sliding his hand through the grille but he failed to do so.
That was when he decided to crawl into the drain, Sungai Pinang Fire and Rescue station chief Assistant Superintendent Zaidi Ahtan told the news agency.
“After retrieving his money, he failed to get out of the drain, panicked and cried.
“Teachers who were alerted about the incident contacted us.
“When we arrived at the scene, we saw the victim stuck on his side in the drain,” Supt Zaidi was quoted as saying.
Firemen reportedly managed to free the boy within a couple of minutes by lifting the grille.
The boy did not suffer any injury, according to Supt Zaidi.
