The chairman of an anti-crime organisation who was recently arrested for alleged extortion, has reportedly been hospitalised.
The Star Online reports that R. Sri Sanjeevan, 31, leader of the non-governmental organisation, MyWatch, has been admitted to the Seremban Hospital for chest pains.
“He suffered a mild heart attack and has pains on his right hand,” the news site quoted a source close to Sanjeevan.
On June 23, the controversial anti-crime activist was caught by a team of police from the Bukit Aman Crime Investigation Department (CID) D7 division after the operator of an illegal gambling business lodged a report against him.
The complainant alleged that Sanjeevan had threatened to publish accusations against the complainant, unless he paid Sanjeevan RM25,000 in “protection” money.
Police revealed that Sanjeevan — and his 26-year-old driver — were arrested after the complainant handed the money to Sanjeevan in his Toyota Vellfire near the Nilai Toll Plaza.
Sanjeevan is reportedly on extended remand until Monday.
