Salleh Said Keruak: Muhyiddin Yassin should stop rocking the boat and toe the UMNO line

Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak today issued a strong warning against the deputy president of his own party, Muhyiddin Yassin, urging the former deputy prime minister to stop “rocking the boat” and adhering to party dictates.

In a post titled “Stop fueling more harm” on his personal blog, Salleh sought to respond to Muhyiddin’s latest criticism of the administration of Prime Minister Najib Razak, saying that “The country’s “suffocating” politics will lead to national disunity” and that “our internal political problems include corruption and the economic downturn where people become victims and are made to pay the price.”

Muhyiddin also attributed Malaysia’s poor global standing to the country being “under threat because of issues involving the leaders.”

Salleh countered that as UMNO deputy president, Muhyiddin should not undermine the policies and initiatives of the Prime Minister, who is also UMNO president.

“As a seasoned politician, Muhyiddin is surely well versed with Umno’s constitution, which specifies that a deputy president is to assist the duties of the president and to show his loyalty and support for the party,” he writes.

Salleh added that if Muhyiddin were to continue acting along such lines, the deputy president would prove himself to not be a “team player”, and that either Muhyiddin or UMNO itself would have to decide on ending “speculation” on Najib’s leadership once and for all.
