Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, the victim of Anwar Ibrahim’s acts of sodomy which landed the former Federal Opposition leader a five-year prison term, unceremoniusly dropped a RM50 million defamation lawsuit against Anwar today … and no reason was given as to why.
The ruling was passed down today by High Court Judicial Commissioner Azizul Azmi Adnan, after having been informed of Saiful’s intention to withdraw his case in chambers by Saiful’s lawyer Zamri Idrus.
Today was scheduled to have seen the case management hearing for his suit.
Latheefa Koya, who is Anwar’s counsel, told The Star Online‘s Maizatul Nazlina that when court resumed in chambers, Zamri told the court that his client had withdrawn his suit.
“There is no reason given on the withdrawal,” she said.
Saiful claimed in his RM50 million civil suit that Anwar had besmriched his good name and reputation by alleging Saiful had meant to slander Anwar by filing a police report on the sodomy incident.
Saiful previously stated that he had endured pain and suffering since 2008 as a result of being accused of slandering Anwar.
