Sabah state’s new cabinet ministers were sworn in at the palace in Kota Kinabalu this morning, beginning with chief minister Hajiji Noor.
They each took turns to stand before king Juhar Mahiruddin and queen Norlidah Jasni to take their oath and sign documents at the palace hall, in front of an audience seated a meter apart.
Hajiji, 65, is leading Sabah’s 16th slate of cabinet ministers, which also include Deputy Chief Minister Bung Moktar Radin, who is also the MP for Kinabatangan, and Second Deputy Minister Jeffrey Kitingan, who is also the Agriculture and Fisheries minister. Both took their oaths consecutively after Hajiji.
Others who have been sworn in were Third Deputy Minister Joachim Gunsalam, who is also the MP for Kundasang, Minister of Public Works Masidi Manjun, and Minister of Rural Development Jahid Jahim.
A small crowd of people was seen outside Sabah palace earlier this morning as the capacity for palace visitors was restricted to 80.
Several parts of Sabah have been put on lockdown after a surge of new cases surfaced amid the election campaign period.
