Angela Nikolau, a famous free-climber from Russia who, along with her boyfriend, recently trespassed and climbed the Merdeka Tower 118, the second-highest building in the world. The duo is known for climbing tall buildings around the world and taking selfies on them.

Nikolau shared a thread explaining her experience climbing the tower on Twitter today However, it did not get the desired response from some Malaysians.

According to her, she fell in love with the Merdeka 118 Tower the moment she saw it and apparently felt an instant spiritual connection with the building and wanted to share the view from above with others.

Who knew you could feel a spiritual connection with a building, huh? The only thing most locals are connecting with within their building is probably their shitty management.

While it is certainly amazing that Nikolau and her partner did what they did, it also begs the question of why a certain group of people think they can just waltz into other people’s countries and break the law.

That is what irked some social media users after the 29-year-old shared her experience on Twitter.

Many Malaysians called out her sense of entitlement and were amused by her claim of having a ‘spiritual’ connection with the skyscraper. Some joked that they didn’t understand how she felt a spiritual connection with a building that looked like a satellite telephone.

The two reportedly scaled the second-tallest skyscraper in the world after slipping past the building’s security, according to a report in the New Straits Times.

Initially posted on SkyscraperCity.com, images from their climb soon found their way to the r/Malaysia subreddit.

After some expressed skepticism over the photos’ authenticity, they proved their actions by publishing drone photos they had obtained from the top of the structure.

They are the subject of an ongoing trespassing investigation, according to the police.
