Ruptured KLIA2 fuel line delays all AirAsia X flights

If you found yourself stuck at the airport between Tuesday evening and early Wednesday morning, here’s the reason why.

Budget airline AirAsia X announced via a statement cited by The Star Online that all of its flights headed out of KLIA 2 between 6pm Tuesday to 1am Wednesday were delayed due to a ruptured fuel line at klia2.

The rupture, the airline explained, was preventing the aircrafts from refuelling at all P bay gates at the airport.

“The incident occurred during maintenance work by Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB).

“A total of 4,564 guests on 14 AirAsia X flights departing between 6.00pm today and 1.00am tomorrow morning will be affected,” AirAsia said in the statement.

Meanwhile, MAHB explained that the maintenance work was part of an ongoing KLIA2 maintenance program.

“The contractor responsible for the maintenance work accidentally ruptured the fuel pipeline while performing the grouting injection Gate P10 earlier today.

“This had caused the hydrant refuelling at the affected wide body bays to be unserviceable,” it said in a statement cited by the news portal.
