A group of burglars who attempted to break into ATM and cash deposit machines at a bank in Bentong by using homemade bombs were forced to flee empty-handed when their planned failed miserably.
In the 5am incident, the burglars had placed the bombs inside the cash deposit machine slot but the blast failed to rip open the cash chamber. Instead, the ceiling near the machines collapsed due to the huge impact, forcing the burglars to beat a hasty retreat.
A police spokesperson said the authorities are studying footage obtained from the CCTV camera to gather information as well as to identify the suspects.
