Road to redemption: Malaysian highway traffic is kind of okay again

It could be worse – and last night, it definitely was.

Highways leading into Kuala Lumpur last night were clogged as KLites tried to rush home in time for work after the Hari Raya holidays, with the North-South Expressway (PLUS) experiencing slow traffic flow in its Yong Peng – Ayer Hitam and Pedas Linggi – Nilai stretches.

Traffic from the east coast back into KL was also slow, with the Bentong – Genting Sempah stretch and the strip immediately preceding the Gombak Toll Plaza on the East Coast Highway experiencing bottlenecks.

As of 9am today, Bernama reports that things have cooled off on the highways leading into KL, with the PLUS, Kesas Expressway, and the New Pantai Expressway (NPE) all registering smooth taffic flow, despite the odd car breakdown or minor accident.
