The British Council has denied that British paedophile Richard Huckle was engaged as a teacher in Malaysia after he completed the Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (Celta) in 2008, reported The Star Online.
The news portal quoted a spokesman as saying that the 30-year-old took the teacher training course at the British Council’s offices in Kuala Lumpur. The course enables an individual to teach adult learners.
“Following the course, we have no record to indicate he was ever engaged as a teacher in Malaysia with us, either for adult students or children,” the spokesman said in a statement picked up by The Star Online.

British Council Global director of communications Sao Bui Van told the news site that Huckle, dubbed ‘Britain’s worst paedophile’ by the British media, also appeared in a 2008 promotional video for the institution.
The video had since been removed.
Sao also denied that Huckle was in contact with any children while studying at the council.
On Wednesday, Huckle admitted to 71 charges, including against 23 children in Kuala Lumpur, at London’s Central Criminal Court, and is facing multiple life sentences.
