Samsung has launched its latest device, the Note 5. Here’s how it fared..
The Samsung Galaxy Note5’s S-Pen — the narrow stylus pinched handily inside Samsung’s gigantic 5.7-inch Galaxy Note phone stands out in a crowd.
The S-Pen works perfectly for Samsung’s phablet. The spring loaded pen makes you feel like you are holding a ballpen instead of stylus. Just click at the back of it to pop it out, a nicer way of handling the stylus than having to drag it out with a fingernail.
No other popular smartphone comes with a stylus, and this one makes the most of its mouse-like properties with its ability to write and draw on the screen without having to unlock the phone.

Good news is, you don’t have to wait long to get it as Samsung Galaxy Note5 is scheduled for its Malaysia launch on Sept 2. Apart from being available on the shelves, expect local telcos, Maxis, Digi, Celcom and U Mobile to start offering it too.
The price, expected to be at RM2,499 (not different from the previous Note 4), is quite a steep sum which could burn your wallet but you can consider subsidised contract offers from those local telcos.
All four have various plans to suit different usage patterns at different price ranges.
The Note5’s specs earn eminent marks across the board, including the best screen technology, the most advanced camera for high quality photos and videos, the latest fast wireless and wired charging, and an incredibly powerful processor.
I love the 16 megapixel camera with OIS or optical image stabilization and how super fast LTE data Cat9 speeds and a robust processor join a host of other specs and features.
As far as productivity is concerned, Note5 is the answer. You can annotate on PDF files and capture lengthy web articles or long images at once via ‘Scroll capture’.
Samsung’s newest device is also further upgraded to support SideSync, which offers both wireless and wired PC-smartphone integration for seamless connections across devices. What it means is that you are now can instantly connect your Samsung device to their PC or tablet for easy access to files and data across all platforms and operating systems including MacOS, (yes, you heard it right, MacOS).
Note5 features Samsung’s fast wired and wireless charging technology and the embedded wireless charging technology is compatible with virtually any wireless pad available today. With wired charging, it can be fully charged in approximately 90 minutes, and through Samsung’s latest wireless charger, Note5 can be fully charged in approximately 120 minutes.
