Pukki Situation: Former Liverpool footballer Stan Collymore explains what Finnish striker’s name means in Malay

Stan Collymore, the Nottingham Forest golden boy that time they got close to the UEFA Cup. An Old Trafford coulda-been til Fergie went with someone else. The record-setting Liverpool Spice Boy whose time close to the sun was soon eclipsed by Berger and Owen. Also, that a**hole who punched Ulrika Johnson in the face at the 1998 World Cup, and got busted as a mid-2000s dogger.

Current incessant podcaster, he can now add a new plume to his hat: Malaysian cultural ambassador imparting wisdom, and local insights to an international audience.

Collymore’s indiscretions have little impact over here in Malaysia, where local cable purveyor, slash media Svengali productions house, Astro, has no problem putting him on air, where he’s giving opinions on their premium Astro SuperSport channel.

Domestic violence aside, Collymore is an opinionated voice off the pitch these days, with his robust podcasting schedule for The Last Word (actually, not bad at all if you can stomach the amount of Liverpool players that come through), and very active Twitter account.

One particular Tweet has caught the British public’s attention, and our amusement, in which he explains to his nearly 900,000 followers the meaning of Pukki in Malay. Which also happens to be the name of Norwich City’s star Finnish striker, Teemu Pukki.

There’s really no way to get around this. Pukki means c*nt.

His success on the pitch this season has meant that red-faced production bosses over at Astro SuperSport have been left with “a Pukki situation” every time they need to say his name.

And it’s not just Malaysians getting to snicker like teenagers, Pukki also has the same meaning in Singapore, and The Philippines.

Considering he’s currently the English Premier League’s top scorer, along with Raheem Sterling, it looks this season is Pukki season.

Yes, we’re actually 12. L8R. #Newcastle4Lyfe
