Puchong woman comes home from Australia and finds husband dead in bathtub

A woman returning home from a month-long trip to Australia was greeted with the body of her husband, lying severely decomposed in their bathtub.

According to police, the woman had left for Australia on April 14 to accompany her daughter, who was continuing her studies there. She had left her husband to watch over their home in Puchong Jaya.

The Star Online reports that when the woman came home yesterday at 11am, she detected a stench coming from the house when she was still at the gate.

She later found the remains of her 54-year old husband in the master bedroom bathtub, dressed only in his underwear and dead from an apparent suicide.

According to Serdang acting OCP Supt  Yong Soo Koon, the woman had said her husband had been a syabu addict for more than six years, and was a failed contractor.

“She claimed he had attempted suicide by cutting his wrists on numerous occasions.

“However, we cannot confirm that he took his own life yet, as the body is too decomposed. An investigation is pending to determine the cause of death,” he said.

The woman said she last spoke to her husband on April 17, and that during that last contact, he sounded normal, showing no sign of distress.

“Their neighbours said they had not seen the man for over two weeks after his wife and daughter left overseas, and had earlier complained of the stench coming from the house,” Supt Yong said.

The body has been sent to the Serdang Hospital for a post-mortem.
