Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) ended a 17-year wait last night to bring home the FA Cup and, to mark the celebration, the state government has declared today (May 15) a holiday.
The state football team beat PKNS FC 2-1 in the final of the FA Cup at the Shah Alam Stadium; the only victory after the Southern Tigers last won the cup in 1998 as Johor FA.
Sunday is a working day in Johor.
This win comes with a spot for JDT in the next AFC Cup competition.
“For the players, rewards await them and for the fans, we are giving a public holiday,” state secretary Datuk Ismail Karim told Bernama.
A victory parade will be held in Taman Yayasan Segamat today.
